Bishop of the Forces calls for an end to the persecution of Christians and all minority groups in Iraq

The Bishop of the Forces, the Right Reverend Richard Moth has asked military chaplains to “offer Mass for those persecuted for their faith" on Sunday 31 August. "The crimes being committed against our brothers and sisters are heinous in the extreme and demand continuing humanitarian aid and increased diplomatic efforts from the world community that stability can be brought to the region."

Cardinal writes to the Foreign Secretary about unfolding disaster in Iraq

In a letter to the Foreign Secretary, Cardinal Nichols has “welcomed the humanitarian efforts” that the British government has made in Iraq over the past few days and has urged that the “relief operation” and “crucial diplomatic efforts” be increased.

Cardinal's Iraq Appeal: "Help and protect persecuted communities facing a threat to their very existence"

The President of the Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, has released a statement on Iraq calling for urgent "help and protection" for the persecuted communities in the north of the country. Cardinal Nichols calls on the UK Government to "lead the efforts in the face of such a human calamity" to restore communities and facilitate essential humanitarian aid.

Bishop appeals for Catholics to join Day of Prayer for Iraq

Bishop Declan Lang: "I invite you to join with many people from across Iraq in praying for an end to the violent persecution that threatens to extinguish the ancient Iraqi Christian community. Church leaders in Iraq have selected the Feast of the Transfiguration on Wednesday 6 August to be observed as a universal day of prayer."
